On Friday 22 June workplaces, schools and groups will be staying in their PJs to children in foster care.
There are around 36,000 children in care throughout Australia. 2009 Queensland Australian of the Year, Founder and Executive Director of The Pyjama Foundation Bronwyn Sheehan said children in care are often subject to a cycle of disadvantage that can lead to long term unemployment, homelessness and involvement in the justice system.
The Pyjama Foundation is a charity that supports children in foster care through a learning based mentoring program delivered by volunteer Pyjama Angels. Pyjama Angels spend an hour a week with a child in care, reading books aloud and playing educational games to ensure they have access to equitable educational opportunities.
